14 Wineries around Sonoma Square

I know we need the rain and the Sierras need the snow, but I'm really enjoying the sunshine even if its a bit brisk out. So I went wine tasting at Sonoma Square on one of those beautiful sunny January days. When I lived in Sonoma back in 2008 there was only one winery on the square and several in biking/short driving distance. Now there are 13 tasting rooms on the square, one a block away and two coming soon. Also on the tasting circuit with free samples there's The Sonoma Cheese Factory and a chocolate shop. Both are pretty tasty!

The square also features fine dining restaurants, a top notch Indian Restaurant, four small hotels, a couple cafes, and a couple bars. There are also about ten art galleries to peruse through in between tastings. Oh and I almost forgot the square: grassy lawns, a duck pond, benches, large trees, and a playground for kids. It really is everything a small town square should be.

There is plenty of all day parking behind the cheese factory and a couple other places if you just follow the signs. For a quick visit there is free two hour parking all around the square.

Try to get one of the Sonoma Square Wine Walk brochures which features a bunch of 2 for 1 tastings and other nice deals. The brochure also has information letting you know the specialties and hours of the various tasting rooms. All three of the wineries we went to had a $5-10 tasting fee that was waived with the purchase of a bottle.

Then we briefly stepped into Haywood Estate. Tasting Notes Here

Our final destination was Glen Lyon / Two Amigos. Tasting Notes Here

What is your favorite winery around the square?
